Having a baby is a happy occasion for women world-wide, however it can be quite a shock to the body both physically and mentally. It affects every part of the body and can take as much as a year to make a full recovery. In the first few weeks after giving birth, women often look as if they are still a few months pregnant. This is because it takes around 4 weeks for the uterus to contract back to its natural size.
